ABOUT
Welcome to Claire Shokudo – a place where tradition meets personal expression. Behind every dish and detail is Claire Wang Xin (欣), the founder and creative force of this cozy Japanese eatery.

Claire’s passion for food is rooted in a deep respect for Japanese culinary culture and a heartfelt desire to share comfort, joy, and nourishment through simple, honest meals. The name “Claire” represents joy and happiness in Chinese (欣), while “Shokudo” (食堂) evokes the warm, everyday restaurants found in Japanese neighborhoods – where locals gather for good food and good company.

OUR PHILOSOPHY
Rooted in Tradition
At Claire Shokudo, we honor the essence of Japanese home-style cooking. From umami-rich miso soup to crispy karaage and comforting curry, every dish pays tribute to timeless flavors passed down through generations. Tradition is our foundation – simple, soulful, and sincere.
伝統に根ざして
Crafted with Care
We believe great food begins with attention to detail. Whether it’s the texture of the rice, the balance of a broth, or the crispness of a tempura batter, each element is prepared with love and intention. Every meal should feel like it was made just for you.
心を込めた手作り
A place to Belong
Claire Shokudo is more than a place to eat – it’s a space to connect, pause, and feel at home. Inspired by the cozy neighborhood restaurants of Japan, we welcome everyone with warmth, joy, and the spirit of sharing.
